It's by design. Now we are all gig workers, solo everything. You can't have power if everybody works in isolation.

why do you even need justification? This is how things operate in my locale.

It went like this:

We need a team of very good sw developers.

Maybe we can have 20% of the team be cheap "developers", people that have no inclination towards sw development to do the boring stuff.

Maybe 20% of real developers is enough in a team. The rest will learn from them.

Let's have 100% cheap developers, the project only needs changes.

We can get even cheaper developers, come to us with no prior experience and in 3 months we will teach you what you need to know.

Our projects are delayed due to covid.

Oh no, the Chinese!

TBH a lot of devs working on this are probably really good devs, but having experience in the German car OEM market I can quite confidently say that usually it's management pushing unreasonable deadlines/stupid features/setting priorities wrong. Kinda like in most companies that treat SW as second class citizen. Lots of catch up to do.

I guess, on the long economic chain, somebody has to get the dollars in the first place. So they have to sell to US something, maybe not at the best price. In the world economy this acts as a constant pressure to sell to US. Not a problem if the world economy shrinks. If it expands, somebody, somehow need to get the extra dollars from US.

ai says [^] is not portable; I did not test it. Too bad, I'll stick to [\s\S].

Too bad, indeed. It's well-defined in javascript (and thus, appropriate in this admittedly niche context). It's non-portable across different regex engines, yes.

exactly what I said

I had a good laugh, I can't sing. Stuck on Get ready. Was there something that was supposed to happen after that? Anyway, play/pause button is too high up, I was looking for it at the bottom of the screen. I like the UI.

Can it be used to watch series? I mean, does it track what was already played? I've read the description but it seems that this is a totally different beast.

Its not really designed for that, but its something I think about adding sometimes. Its really more for people who tend to archive random videos and images from all over and want to browse them in a pleasant way. My library is full of memes, science images, archive.org scrapes, artist scrapes, comics, youtube videos, etc.

Not sure if adding it would be the best. Maybe a different project that reuses parts of this one, build specifically for that purpose.

I switched back to Sonnet. It replies faster so I work faster. Also cheaper. But I really like the speed. I have to be more specific with what I want. Also I stop it more often than Opus. These new models will be awesome, but they need to increase the speed.

they have a graph with cost comparison between the models. This model is just a little over the other models as cost. The graph is logarithmic :)

I noticed too, that whatever they offer in the chat, for free, is smarter, as in no more bs. I use claude code and I want to try codex too but I don't need two subscriptions. I did try codex for some planning and it was really good. Thanks for giving me an insight into how it generates code.
