People identify with other places, people, policies, and cultures — along with their own, or wherever they're originally from. Sometimes they don't even identify with their own, or say, feel alienated. It's perfectly fine, and in fact a very healthy state of being.

If you don't control your data size, it will end up controlling you and your backup choices, which will eventually lead to many avoidable, disastrous outcomes. Somehow, this gets missed in data storage and backup planning.

I mostly use speckit, not openspec. I think basically these are the same tools. There are other reasons for using such tools, but one reason is to enforce discipline for me and the LLM. Otherwise, often it starts going round in circles. Helps me save tokens as well. Again, the discipline is the important bit (along with clearly produced artefacts). Can I do all of this just with the LLM? Yes and that's what I did but it was very messy.

They block iOS 27 upgrade over 5G (irrespective of data mode and battery setting/state). Then they show something like this as a warning:

> Paused.

> … will resume when device reconnects to Internet.

Yes "Internet"! These buffoons don't even correctly say "WiFi".

And when you lock the screen, the download status message switches to "About X hours remaining" (without actually downloading anything of course) and upon unlock it glitches back to "Paused" state.

It baffles my mind at the amount of hardcoding and flag-based development this company has done. If Fable et al are let loose on these fruity pieces of software, it will lead to a global user safety-based outage.

Wasn't that the fix they last minute deployed in 26.6.2 or something ?

There are users, there are rabid fans, and then there are blissful corporation groupies. Apple has a company that severely lacks the first kind – because if it did, it would have either fixed its act or gone into the ground.

Like the “Users” of Windows and Android who really managed to fix Microsoft and Google offerings…

i think that was sarcastic or should have been sarcastic :D

100% not sarcastic. I disabled all continuity options and the annoying delay to bring up the context menu is gone. My phone is my only apple product. I don't need it.

Where is that setting ? Can only find continuity related to AirPlay

Edit:

Disabled everything on "Continuity and AirPlay" as well. Guessing it might be the "Handoff" setting. Not sure that the menu pops up any faster though

Yeah, it was "handoff". It was always taking a long second or two before it would open. Now it is instant

/shrug

So after disabling this I realised since I only have an iPhone (and no Mac or other Apple devices) I should disable anything and everything in the settings that syncs stuff between devices. There was also one about the Focus options (like Do Not Disturb) and some other ones. I figure this can only simplify everything and speed up the phone if it never has to check for any (non existent) device to sync settings against. Still have all my local phone settings backing up to iCloud

Isn't OMP sort of Claude in Pi's clothing? I tried it and it seemed like I was using Claude. But if tweaking is needed there then why not stick to Pi and add/strip as needed?

> Anthropic forbids its use on their subscriptions

This! How are these companies even allowed to do this while they anyway charge for either API access or limit usage in the generic plans. It's blatantly just "I don't want you to spend less per generic task!".

Pretty sure their decade old iCloud Tabs bug, that leaves phantom tabs from other devices stuck, isn’t fixed.

They also allow an app to start backing up their data in your iCloud quota without your explicit apoorval or enabling. In fact when you notice, you go ahead and uncheck it, and next time you check it again, you’d see Uber again happily backing up 500MB (or lord knows what) into your iCloud account, a massage and home chores booking company app backing up 650MB data! It’s just pathetic - and that patheticity lies on Apple’s side that they let it happen.

But no, this is a historic release, like every other release, all hail the fruit. I used to think Apple does not care about such issues. But now I suspect they have really been incapable of making these things better for years (in some cases even more than a decade).

Not only that. I also question how they pick new features to implement. For example usernames - I am not going to trust another "private" IM app username feature same as what Telegram and WhatsApp questionably chose. Compromise on this? Well, then even WhatsApp and Telegram are good enough with compromises.

Separate usernames completely from phone numbers. Period.

There's a reason Signal is still "US based". No, I am not talking about some CIA/NSA/DoD/tom/jerry funding conspiracy, just good old human obstinacy and hubris. They don't give a f about who uses it, it's about who makes and maintains it all.

Even reddit bans any netlify.app url in messages or posts (at least for me). Never checked for comments.
