My brother has to remember to blink. (Thyroid or something, he's cagey about sharing diag. I suspect Grave's Disease.)

His unflinching stare into the eyes of interogation, while telling obvious lies, got us out of lots of trouble.

Yes but: Apple has no incentive to open up.

Absent that, it'd take some kind of sustained right-to-repair, EU morality, many sternly worded letters pressure campaign.

Plus, once they did (officially), they're kinda committed to keep doing it. That's explains why they remain okay with emoloyees helping on their own time; all the upside, none of the down.

My family continues to use my old 2009 MacBook Pro.

YMMV

Regulations is a scary word for rules.

Because Trump support is an identity, not a belief system.

I'm currently immersed in MAGA world (eldercare, siblings). Their daily media diet is 1984's Two Minutes of Hate all day long on repeat.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two_Minutes_Hate

I'm still unsure about the cultish aspects.

Habitual hate and anger are akin to addiction. Which may be sufficient to explain the behavior I'm seeing. (They really hate their perceived enemies.)

In favor of the cult theory, MAGA et al do check a lot of the boxes.

IIRC, Fox News accounts for +5 R nationally.

Plus the +5 R advantage due to misapportion...

It's a wonder that Democrats ever attain a majority.

And why most criticisms of Democrats (campaigns, messaging, policy, whatever) aren't even wrong.

Change (chaos) is the biggest threat to election integrity. It creates "jump ball" situations where anything can happen.

Last minute rule changes: redistricting, ballot redesign / reissue, gear swaps, polling locations, etc.

Way bigger than electronic voting, which is what initially motivated by activism.

Source: am a recovering election integrity activist.

Live long enough and all these apocalypses start to smell the same.

> ...don't work in the global world.

Exactly. The tarriffs are but a part of the attack on the previous status quo.

The current Admin is hostile to neoliberalism, globalism, the maritime order, sole superpower, international comity, etc.

We've been heading towards a multi-polar world order for a while. It is what it is.

The current Admin is speed running the transition. There is no theory, workdview, vision for whatever comes next. Or how to get there. Just cronyism and patronage.

The prior Admin, whatever its faults, had a plan for navigating the transition, unwinding neoliberalism, to invest in domestic capacity and supply chains. (And it was working.)

But now the plan is calvinball.

For a very brief window of time, USA did a little bit more good than bad.

Those of us wanting to believe USA was more better than not have struggled to recalibate our beliefs.
