In Sweden I saw Swish app QR codes everywhere. In every store, cafe, museums and even for donations (e.g. volunteers maintaining trails, independent museums, etc).

I had no issue paying with a card everywhere, but it was interesting to see those QR codes everywhere.

Though after spending 15min trying to set it up - I eventually made a conclusion that it’s impossible for non Swede (or someone without Swedish bank account and/or mobile phone number). Could be wrong, but did not delve more.

Had to skip couple donations - as they only accepted Swish app.

I saw ~20 year old presentation where Craig Federighi presented (for first time??) - dude was shaking like leaf and could hardly do the demo.

It turned out fine and now he’s one of more charming presenters.

It's so sad that X4 Pro does not have USB-C.

They have added backlight, but still left charging/connecting to proprietary magnetic adapter.

> It's so sad that X4 Pro does not have USB-C.

Yeah, the connector they've made is absolutely bananas, wonder what they were thinking? Was there a 3rd-party docking ecosystem they were expecting to be spawned by this, or something? The magnetic connector by itself makes no sense, unless I severely misunderstand how it's supposed to be used in practice.

I saw a claim that the connector was to reduce the thickness of the device.

Terrible trade-off. I do not want a marginally smaller book if it means I have to worry about losing a proprietary cable.

It isn't proprietary.

Standard or not, it's not the standard.

It is, though to be honest it bothers me less than I thought it will. The battery lasts so long that I rarely charge it.

> proprietary magnetic adapter

They're supposedly not proprietary but a standard size that's easily replaced.

Ok, though still obscure.

I don’t want to looking where to order it when it’s lost or broken.

Any guesses why they went with that connector rather than USB C?

Just for improved thinnness; they're able to reduce about 2 mm from the thickness with the pins (and you can still technically use them for data transfer depending on how it's wired to the SoC).

Eh, I would be more empathic in this situation[0].

Github isn’t small startup, where other 10x threshold is as cheap as buy bigger box in your IaaS.

When you are already biggest player in the ecosystem and you suddenly get 10x persisted traffic, with at least 30x+ forecast “soon” - I am not surprised they have issues.

cloud providers and hyper growth tech deal with these growth rates all the time

I mostly browse https://news.ycombinator.com/active for this reason.

Not me, just preserving the title as much as possible.

With social media you can spend small amounts of money , create media and target people half across the globe from you.

ruzzian troll farm employee cannot call into fox news and say “create 100 John Does impersonating MAGA texans (or whatever), present them as real and I will pay you 5$ for that”. Such troll can automate all this and present media somewhat realistically on FB.

I just want to add, that they (FB and other big social media) probably understood what propaganda power they wield after 2016 facebook and cambridge analytica scandal.

Personally - I think that this was the moment when silicon valley billionaires without shadow of a doubt understood that they have power what used to be reserved only for state actors. Bonus - for using that power they get fined penny on the dollar at most or just slap on the wrist.

Update: now situation is even worse - states actively buy propaganda with social media companies, making those companies even more rich and influential.

Though what I genuinely don't understand is, why then Mitchel needs funding? If he needs funding - why accept it from weird contraversial figures?

He has the freedom of choice, like no other.

What are some examples of uncontroversial figures who would be willing to offer funding, in your opinion?

Why not Mitchel himself? Without anyone else.

Seeding superlogical wouldn’t make a dent to his “10 digit bank account”. Probably not much more expensive than airplane hobby.

why even take funding at all?

Look at this article and it's graphs: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passengers_per_hour_per_direct...

Cars are the very bottom, by very considerable margin. You need to prove otherwise.

Yes, a traditional car. See my comment below about co-ordinated modular autonomous vehicles. Basically tiny cars that fit one person that can link up to share energy on longer routes, or even busses with detachable "pods" for last mile travel. But autonomous vehicles provide numerous possibilities that traditional modes of public transit do not.
